I am not sure I would go through the hassle for non-native teachers. I'm also concerned that he'll develop a strong German accent when speaking English as the teachers are not native speakers and the vast majority of his classmates will not have native English speaking parents You're assuming the non-native English speaking German teachers have heavy German accents when they speak English.
I've made the mistake of assuming several of my colleagues were Brits when in fact they were Germans. I don't know anything about specific schools in Berlin though we got a lot of advice, mainly from TT, about school selection. If you plan to stay in Germany long term, then your child is probably better suited to attend a German teaching school, be that private or state. As Kiplette mentioned, there's so much to be said about a close proximity to home, local friends and after school activities. We moved here 5 years ago when my daughter was 10 and couldn't speak any German.
At home, I only speak English with her and my husband German.

There's some Denglish here and there. I'm too old to lose my accent! As your son is so much younger, he's in a brilliant position to learn both languages from native speaking parents. As mentioned earlier, you may have to move to be in a better catchment area once it's time for secondary school. Come secondary, they all had to move to be nearer better schools. If you want your kids to go to Gymnasium well prepared, ask someone who is unbiased and has experience about the process. They claimed that the kids would not be able to keep up with Gymnasium students who had received all education in German. They were correct in this regard, but when we entered the primary school, they had assured us that choosing the Europaschule would not be a limiting factor. I went to French schools up until university in Canada. I spoke French with everyone except for my dad.

I now live exclusively in English, while being in Germany, with only a faint French accent. I would send the child to the German school and keep speaking in English at home.
