I also try to pick a couple sewing projects each year to do for charity. Thanks for participating in the giveaway and encouraging everyone to give. I have been a supporter of dresses for Africa for quite a while—I have sewn a good number of dresses for this wonderful cause. One of my quilt guilds makes CASA quilts and other one does quilts for families who have experienced house fire. We have also made lap quilts for nursing home residents and made a large number of nap quilts for Kindergarden students at our local schools.

We as members will participate in all the above and other community service projects during I really enjoy all your videos, Nancy, and how-to projects! Thanks for giveaways!! My local fabric stores always have great fleece deals this time of year.

I either make items like pillowcases to donate, or donate items to an organization to use for their projects. I make at least on quilt of valor each year. I also participate in making bead bags for children having cancer treatments and child size quilt for kids in the hospital. I sew quilts for our christmas tree project in our town. I had like to make 2 or more this next year. Also, have planned a block swap with some quilting friends. We are doing them in red, white and blue so the tops can be donated to Q of V. I have been participating in several novelty fabric charm swaps this year — I now have enough to make some quilts for Project Linus. This is my plan for — joining a local group that makes quilts for this cause. I like to make prayer quilts.

I keep my ears and eyes open for someone who needs to be wrapped in prayer and make them a quilt. It left another daughter with life threatening injuries. For the dad and siblings we made fleece tie blankets. That was 2 years ago. Utilizing any willing persons whether they cut, press, tie, or find coordinating fabrics has meant that any one of nearly any age can be a part of our Stitches For Life ministry. After nearly 2 years we have made and distributed over quilts for preemies to 90 year olds throughout the United States at no cost.

Our guild has a group called Hearts and Hands. We make quilts for children and those quilts are donated in a number of places, such as shelters. We also get requests for some one time needs. My stitch group makes benevolence quilts that are donated in a variety of ways, for individuals in need, for fundraising events for charitable organizations, etc. I sew for Heads At Ease, a volunteer organization that sews pillow cases for our military.

I also make quilts for LWR. I plan on making some bags to hold med information for some people with rare disorders.

I also plan on making leashes and donating the money to animal charities. I will be making quilts for Quilts for Kids and my guild is making sleeping mats for children in a village. Quilts go to my two quilt guilds for our Comfort Quilts programs. Then friends birthdays are high on my list. I have little need so giving away is a good pleasure.

Reborn Doll Patterns

This year I taught a beginner sewing class to ladies in my church. I recently lost my husband to a horrible disease and could not have cared for him without the help of hospice. They were the reason I was able to keep him at home until the end. I would use the give away items to help me create fundraising items for the hospice group in our area to help others in these times of need.

Finally settling in after a cross country move. Next year I would like to join the local quilt guild and contribute to their charity efforts. I sew for family and friends. This year I am making i phone stands. Thank you for the generous giveaway. I chair the community service committee in my guild.

We make pillowcases, placemats, breast cancer pillows, veteran quilts, kid quilts. We are a busy bunch. Now that my favorite greeting card charity, Operation Write Home, has closed I will turn to my fabric stash to begin blessing others. I sew red, white and blue quilts for Quilts of Valor. I love to sew for my home and for friends and relatives. I will moving to a new home soon I hope , so should have not only plenty of sewing to do, but a new sewing room to set up and enjoy! I have a bin of fabric that I want to make into quilts, for the same purpose.

  • I am wanting to begin the dresses for Africa this year. Also my church is wanting to start sewing pillowcases for nearby cancer treatment center. So many ideas…. I plan on sewing flannel pillow cases for foster children so they can also use them to carry their belongings as well as using it for a pillow. We sew peasant dresses for missions work in Uganda and Malawi and plan to continue that again this year. I offer my sewing skills to anyone that needs help. Sometimes it is just advice and sometimes help sewing an item.

    As part of my local guild, I sew for several different charitable causes. Lots of veterans groups and honor flight. We are making items to spruce up their rooms as well as little gifts that they can get through participating in events then either keep or give to friends and family. I will volunteer to teach young adults who have never sewn before, but would like, to how to sew. My sister and I already have the fabric and can hardly wait to get started. I sew baby quilts for new moms in our World Friendship group, items to sell for Deep Creek Needlecraft Club, and various gifts throughout the year.

    My service projects include making lap quilts, bibs, ditty bags, and wheel chair bags for veterans.

    My mum, her friend and I have been sewing placemats and cushions to sell at her church fayre. The fabrics we used are upholstery samples we got free from a local upholstery store. I know her favorite colors and want to give her something soft and loving. I will sew for my kids, nieces, nephews and kids friends. I also hope to sew for Operation Christmas child and also for a people nearby who have children with special needs. As always, I and others will make items such as hats, walker and wheel chair bags, shopper bags, tutus and other items for sale. Winning this gift would help us in our goal.
